6-DAY STUDY-HOLIDAY TOUR IN CALABRIA

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
DAY 1: 26 May
Arrive with Ryanair flight (not included in the package) at Lamezia Terme Airport at 1005am and transfer to 3*Hotel Excelsior in Cosenza.
Set just in between the old and the new town, this Liberty style hotel has the perfect location to visit the pretty old town of Cosenza on foot where it is possible to visit its historical buildings, churches and villas that will bring you back in the past.
This is also the ideal location to explore the surroundings!! In fact, from the hotel you can easily reach the nearest mountains and beaches in about 50 minutes drive.
Get familiar with the surroundings before lunch (at around 1pm) at the near restaurant.
Unwind and refreshen yourself in your room after lunch before starting our walking tour in the old town at around 4.30.
Dinner in one of the local restaurants.

DAY 2: 27 May
7am Breakfast

0930 Head to the village of Rossano in the outback of the Ionian coast, one of the most important centre of Byzantine art and history and, also famous for its liquorice factory. It's worth a visit to the Cathedral, the Museum and Saint Mark church. A nature walk will follow among the "Giants of Cozzo Pesco", one of the WWF reserves, where giant chestnuts trees and green valleys make the landscape amazing and where we can have our packet lunch. The walk is lead by a local trekking guide.0300 Head to the Liquorice Factory in Rossano Calabro after our lunch break. Rossano's soil is rich of liquorice roots that grow and spread spontaneously in the whole area. Here we visit the three-century old factory and the museum to discover the traditional and the modern way of making liquorice products. This is a real paradise for all liquorice lovers!! You will also be able to buy all sorts of liquorice products from the factory's shop. Return to the hotel. Dinner at local restaurant.

DAY 3: 28 May
8am Breakfast
9am Italian Class
1030 Discover one of the jewels of the Tirrhenian coast!!! Tropea, famous for its beaches and sweet onions. Spend the day walking on the beach, swimming, playing beach volley or simply chill out on the warm sand. Do not forget your swimming wear and beach towel then! Also climb the stairs of Santa Maria dell'Isola, an outstanding church built on top of the beach or stroll in the alleys of this very picturesque sea village. Lunch at pleasure. Depart from Tropea at 6pm heading to the Hotel. Dinner at local restaurant.

DAY 4: 29May
8am Breakfast
9am Italian Class
1030 we head to the "Great Sila", part of the Sila Plateau. Visit Cecita Lake and Sila National Park, where beautiful natural settings can be admired. Take a walk along the paths of the National Park to breath fresh air and to enjoy the local flora and fauna. Therefore, do not forget your hiking shoes!!! Packet lunch. Visit Camigliatello Silano, a typical mountain village, to purchase souvenirs and local products. Return to hotel to get ready for dinner in a local restaurant.

DAY 5: 30 May
8am Breakfast
9am Italian Class
1030 We leave for Acri to spend the day in the farmhouse where we will take part in some of the daily farmhouse routine activities, we will taste homemade products and, for those who want to, enjoy the farmhouse extra activities (to pay locally). Lunch at 2pm. Return to by 4.30 and spend the rest of the afternoon window-shopping in the new town and end your stay in Calabria with another delicious dinner and evening at pleasure.
DAY 6:31May
7am Breakfast. 8am Departure for airport
What is included: transfers from/to Lamezia Terme airport, 5 nights accommodation in 3*hotel in Cosenza, 5 breakfasts, 2 packet lunches, 2 lunches, 4 dinners, half-day English guided walking tour to Cosenza old town, Italian guided tour in Rossano old town, Italian trekking guide and English guide tour at the Liquorice Museum.
